Startups x Developers: Pitch & Mixer Night
Are you a UCLA student or recent alumni looking for a technical co-founder, lead engineer, freelancer, intern, etc. to join you in developing your idea? Or a current UCLA student studying CS, CS&E, EECE, Applied Mathematics, etc. or with a programming background interested in joining the development of an idea at its earliest stages? If so, this event is for you.
On Wednesday, May 16th, at 6:00 pm in the West Coast Room of Covel Commons, Startup UCLA and student orgs UPE, ACM, Sigma Eta Pi, and Bruin Entrepreneurs are bringing students and recent alumni with startups and student developers together for a pitch and mixer night. In the first hour, students/recent alumni with a startup (or idea for a startup) will each give a 60 second pitch to the audience of student developers. Immediately following the pitches will be a mixer held in the Startup UCLA office (Covel Common 203) from 7:00 – 8:00 pm in which the student devs and those that pitched will have the opportunity to mix and meet one another, learn more about each other, and discuss working together if so inclined.
Food will be served at the mixer.
Register via Eventbrite page by May 13th, 11:59 PM. Only those with programming ability who register as developers will be admitted to the event.
Register via Eventbrite page by May 13th, 11:59 PM. Applying does not guarantee the opportunity to pitch at or attend the event. Only current, matriculated UCLA students (undergrad and graduate) and recent UCLA alumni (graduated within the last 5 years) qualify to pitch. Only those pitching will be admitted; no other team members will be admitted.
Startups that are selected will have 60 seconds to pitch. Explain your idea quickly and efficiently and be sure to specify what you are looking for: the role of the developer/s (co-founder, lead dev, intern, etc.), kind of compensation (equity, cash, equity/cash split), etc. We will display a single slide with your startup name, tagline, email address, the type of developer/s you are seeking, and website, if applicable, copied from your registration answers.
Who is eligible to pitch?
Current, matriculated UCLA students (both undergrad and graduate) and recent UCLA alumni (graduated within the last 5 years) with a startup (or idea for one) whom are in need of developers.
This event is open only to developers with programming ability and those pitching at the event. All others, including team members of those pitching, will not be admitted. Registration via Eventbrite page required to attend.
