Guest Speaker:  Katherine Fibiger, J.D., Technology Transfer Officer, Copyright,  UCLA
Katherine Fibiger joined UCLA’s OIP-ISR in July 2007 as a Licensing Officer. Ms. Fibiger is responsible for managing copyrightable works of authorship created at UCLA and assessing commercialization opportunities. Her responsibilities include handling UCLA copyright permissions requests, reviewing IP language, and negotiating licenses and managing their progress to ensure the licensed works of authorship can be commercialized or made available for the public good. In addition, Ms. Fibiger lectures on Intellectual Property topics including protection and commercialization of university intellectual property. Prior to joining UCLA, Ms. Fibiger was a software developer and information technology consultant for 10 years. Ms. Fibiger obtained a bachelor’s degree in management from Babson College, a Master of Information Science from Boston University, and J.D. and Master of Intellectual Property from the UNH School of Law (Franklin Pierce Law Center).

The UCLA Office of Intellectual Property & Industry Sponsored Research (OIP-ISR) is pleased to host a monthly educational series and mixer called, FirstFridays @OIP-ISR. The continental breakfast event occurs on the first Friday of every month from 9:00-10:30 in our conference room Suite 210, the Kinross Building. The purpose of the event is to provide an opportunity for the campus and local communities to come and meet with our staff and interns, to hear a brief presentation on a variety of topics relevant to intellectual property and entrepreneurship at UCLA, and to ask questions and network.
